Despite these flaws, Puerto Rico overall is a very sturdy ship and will prove very difficult to kill. Puerto Rico 's only weaknesses are her large size and 60-second fire duration, the result of her large cruiser status. Thanks to her relatively generous torpedo protection, she takes notably less damage from torpedoes than other cruisers. ![]() This lets Puerto Rico get away with mistakes that would sink other cruisers. With a completely submerged citadel and a thick 254mm belt armor, her citadel is nearly impossible to hit even when showing flat broadside to the enemy. Perhaps Puerto Rico 's most striking armor feature is her excellent citadel protection. Her 38mm deck armor is also relatively thick, resisting most 203mm HE shells and bouncing all battleship AP caliber shells. She sports a relatively thick 27mm bow and stern armor, enough to bounce up to 381mm caliber AP shells when angled properly. Her HP pool is massive for a cruiser, nearly on par with some battleships. Puerto Rico is a well-protected ship, similar to her US larger cruiser counterparts. Compared to her Tier IX relative Alaska, Puerto Rico offers slightly improved protection, a fourth main gun turret, as well as superior Anti-Air protection. Puerto Rico is a Tier X American large cruiser.
